This authentic ex New York Checker cab is for sale
Having spent some time looking for a New York Checker both here in England and in the States we couldn't find a suitable example. One's we looked at were either painted and stickered civilian versions (A12 Marathon) or the odd genuine A11's but from other states, all of varying condition & quality. After several months of trawling all the different Ebay sites and other classified sites we discovered our Checker on a Dutch web site, it was being sold on behalf of the owner by the garage that did the servicing work. It was a real bonus to find an authentic New York taxi.
As far as we know our Checker served on the
streets of NY from 1981 to 1983 (still has DMV stickers) and then was sold to a
gentleman from Holland who owned a chain of clothing stores called "Taxi
Store" , it then spent the next 20yrs doing promo work traveling round his
stores .
In late 2004 he sold off the stores but kept the Checker , but by early 2005
decided to sell that too .
A quick flight over to Amsterdam
and we drove it back !
We have kept the exterior correct for a period NY yellow cab
The interior we have updated, though easily reversible if required, the interior was the original expanse of black vinyl so we had the seats recovered in black with yellow piping, a checker headlining , we took out the rear folding "dicky" seats and fitted carpet in the rear, we have also added headrest monitors with 10" screens , also has a DVD player and CD multi-changer mounted out of view to stay with the minimal taxi look

It has a working Viking meter and working roof sign .
UK Private Plate BIG 4310 (BIG YELO) .
It's a 1981 model fitted with the Chevy 3.8 V6 mated to the TH400 3 speed auto.
The car gets an amazing reaction wherever it goes, instantly recognisable, It has to be the ultimate
"feel good" car ! .
Taxed & Tested
The Checker is fully UK road legal and can be driven away, it has been regularly serviced and I would have no hesitation in making a long trip in it.
Though we bought it as classic car enthusiasts, we soon began getting requests for Weddings, Proms, TV work & Photo Shoots. Even doing this as a part time venture can provide a decent income without disrupting a regular full time job.
If you plan to continue to hire the Checker out, and why not it's a great source of income. I will include a couple of Checker related domains plus you will have the option to use our images* for your gallery while you build up your own gallery. (*copyright aknowledged)
Also included in the price is an illuminated ad carrier (Toblerone), great for added promo exposure.
UK Insurance wise, if you are looking at continuing to hire out, Direct Chauffeur Line insurance is £300pa* including Wedding & Special Occasion use (Proms etc).

The car is located in Stockport, 20 mins from Manchester Airport.
Overseas interest I will assist with shipping arrangements where possible, the Checker is located 20 mins from Manchester Airport and I can collect anyone flying in to view.
Nearest car ferry port to mainland Europe is Hull, approx 1.5hrs drive with regular sailings to Rotterdam & Zeebrugge
Had a few European enquiries asking about other UK ferry ports, these are approx driving time distances from Stockport to the port.
Newcastle-upon-Tyne, approx 2.3hrs, sailings to Gothenberg, Sweden. Stavanger, Haugesund & Kristiansand Norway.
Portsmouth, approx 3.3hrs, sailings to Le Havre, France.
Harwich, approx 4hrs, sailings to Cuxhaven, Germany. Esjberg, Denmark.
Dover, approx 4hrs, sailings to Calais, France
Newhaven, approx 4hrs, sailings to Dieppe, France.
Plymouth, approx 4 hours, sailings to Roscoff, France.

Genuine Ex New York Checker Taxi makes an impact whatever your event
Recognised throughout the world, the Checker is the Iconic Taxi Cab.
It has appeared in Hundreds of Films and TV programs as a Prop or Action Vehicle, though it has played a major role in some including Taxi Driver with Robert DeNiro, TV series TAXI with Danny DiVito, Phoebe's Taxi driving stint in Friends was behind the wheel of a Checker too.

Classic American Muscle - Mercury Cougar
Perfect for any Occasion
Our Classic Muscle Cougar is a very rare sight. There are only 4 other known 1969 Cougar convertibles in the UK.
Despite it's rarity, a 1969 Mercury Cougar Convertible did feature in the 1969 James Bond film, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, staring George Lazenby and Diana Rigg.
Other smaller roles have included The Fall Guy, Used Cars, Forest Gump, Police Squad and who can forget the 2002 film classic [sic] Bikini Bandits ?
It is happy ticking along nicely whilst making a grand entrance, or eating up the miles before arriving in style at your destination.
